Photos Backup Pro — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Appify ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Photos Backup Pro macOS application (the "App"). Photos Backup Pro is designed with privacy as a core principle — all photo processing happens locally on your Mac, and your photos and library data are never transmitted off your device. The only data sent off-device is anonymous crash diagnostics, as described below.
1. Information We Collect
Local Data
All app data is processed and stored locally on your Mac. This includes:
- Export settings and preferences
- Fingerprint data used for change detection
- Export history and logs
Photos Backup Pro reads your Apple Photos library to perform exports but does not modify your library in any way. Exported files are written to a destination folder of your choosing on your local disk or connected storage.
Authentication
Photos Backup Pro does not require or offer user authentication. No account creation is needed and no personal information such as email addresses or passwords is collected.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
The App does not include any analytics or usage tracking. We use Sentry to collect anonymous crash reports so we can diagnose and fix issues. The data sent when a crash occurs includes:
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- Crash logs, stack traces, and error diagnostics
Crash reports do not include your photos, library contents, file paths, export destinations, or any other personally identifiable information. Crash reporting is only active in production releases.
2. How We Use Your Information
Photos Backup Pro does not collect personal information. The App processes your photo library data solely to perform the export functionality you initiate. All processing happens locally on your device.
3. Third-Party Services
Photos Backup Pro integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Sentry — Anonymous crash reporting. See Sentry Privacy Policy.
- Mac App Store — Purchases are processed through Apple's payment system. We do not have access to your payment details. See Apple Privacy Policy.
4. System Permissions
The App may request the following system permissions:
- Photos Library Access — Required to read your Apple Photos library for export. The App only reads your library; it never modifies, deletes, or adds photos.
- File System Access — Required to write exported photos to your chosen destination folder.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
All data (settings, fingerprints, logs) is stored locally on your Mac. No data is stored on remote servers. You can delete all app data by uninstalling the App. Exported photos on your disk are managed by you and are not affected by uninstalling the App.
6. Data Security
Photos Backup Pro processes all photo and library data locally on your Mac. Your photos and export data remain entirely within your control and are never transmitted over the network. The only data sent off-device is anonymous crash diagnostics via Sentry, transmitted over an encrypted connection.
7. No Responsibility for Data Loss
Because Photos Backup Pro stores and processes data entirely on your device, all responsibility for safeguarding your photos, library, and exported files rests with you. Appify is not responsible or liable for any loss, corruption, alteration, deletion, or inaccessibility of photos, videos, metadata, or any other data, whether caused by bugs, errors, malfunctions, incomplete or failed exports, hardware failure, user error, operating system changes, or any other cause. You are solely responsible for maintaining independent backups of your data and for verifying that your photos and exported files are intact and accessible. 8. Children's Privacy
Photos Backup Pro is not directed at children under the age of 13. The App does not collect any personally identifiable information from any user.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
